Zazen se pratique sur un coussin (<b><i>zafu</i></b>), les jambes croisées afin que les genoux touchent le sol. Le bassin est basculé vers l'avant, le dos droit, la nuque tendue, le menton rentré et les épaules relâchées ; les pouces se joignent horizontalement et les yeux sont mi-clos.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="justify">La rectitude de la posture s'accompagne d'une respiration ample et naturelle. Le juste tonus musculaire sans tension permet à l'esprit d'être vigilant et paisible. Si des pensées jaillissent du subconscient, on les observe simplement sans s'y attacher, sans s'y opposer.
<br />La posture devient un miroir qui reflète toute chose, sans en être affecté.</p>
